Each solidarity sale organized by Emmaus Benin embodies the spirit of solidarity and mutual support that drives the Emmaus community internationally. The container sent by the Emmaus Saint-Nazaire community to Emmaus Benin is a perfect example: a chain of international solidarity, from France to Benin, mobilizing local and international teams for a lasting impact.
The solidarity sale was launched on November 2, 2024 at Emmaüs Bénin in Porto-Novo. In the days leading up to the event, companions from Emmaüs Saint-Nazaire and Niort Prahecq worked with Emmaüs Bénin volunteers to unload the container, then organize and fit out the store so that it was ready to welcome visitors. In addition to this logistical task, their presence helped to strengthen links with local teams and to better understand Emmaus Benin's needs in order to develop long-term partnerships.
The first day of the sale was a resounding success, with sales of XOF 1,580,950, reflecting the enthusiasm and strong participation of visitors. The sale continued on November 6 and 9, generating sales of XOF 1,843,000 and XOF 1,238,300 respectively, for a total of XOF 4,662,250. Thanks to these funds, Emmaus Benin will be able to support essential local projects in various fields of action such as education, health, socio-professional reintegration, agro-ecology and women's empowerment, thus reaching many vulnerable communities. The profits will be divided between Emmaus Benin's various entities, enabling them to carry out their projects throughout the country.
Other items from the container will be available at future sales. In this way, we hope to prolong this wonderful adventure of solidarity and continue to strengthen the cultural and human links between France and Benin.
